The project aims to help develop expertise in the sector in the areas of food processing safety, marketing, branding and packaging.
On 20-25 October 2014, British Expertise organised UK Study Tour for selected partners from both countries. Head of the National Association of Small & Medium Business, Mrs.Matluba Uljabaeva and Head of "Zieratshoh Corporation” Mr.Davlatali Boyakov took part in the tour from Tajikistan’s side.
During the tour representatives of Tajikistan visited food processing factories in Essex and Cardiff where got acquainted with manufacturing process and all its stages from collecting and storage to processing and packaging. Factory managers gave a very informative factory tours sharing their experience in processing, marketing and sales.
Another essential part of the program was a CATBIG (Central Asia & Trans-Caucasus Business Information Group) meeting where representatives of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan made presentations on their organizations.
Head of Tajikistan National Association of Small & Medium Business, Mrs.Matluba Uljabaeva delivered information on the purposes, activities and projects of the Association in Tajikistan. Special emphasis has been given to experience in promoting the interests of small and medium sized enterprises in the country.
Director for Central Asia at European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Mr.Masaru Honma presented activities of the Bank in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and its role in attraction of investment to the private sector, support for the development of small and medium business, and creation of a favorable business environment in the countries.
Second Secretary of Tajikistan Embassy in London Mr.Asliddin Rakhmatov introduced the role of the Embassy in moving forward economic cooperation between Tajikistan and United Kingdom. He talked about assisting and guidance of Tajik and British companies wishing to start their businesses in Tajikistan or UK, building strong partnership with local business community and UK government and promotion of Tajikistan.
UK tour provided to its participants a substantial amount of knowledge and expertise of UK fruit and vegetable processing sector which will help them to improve their companies at place.
