On November 2, 2021, on the side-lines of the COP26 conference in Glasgow, a video message from the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon was heard at the High-Level Panel on Water and Climate.
In his speech, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan recalled the consequences of climate change, including the melting of glaciers, the lack of access to clean water, the reasons for the rise in temperature and their
consequences, the increasing frequency of hydrometeorological emergencies such as mudflows, floods, droughts, landslides and avalanches, and called for an international community to take timely action.
Moreover, taking this opportunity, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan mentioned the Tajikistan's proposal to declare 2025 the International Year for Preservation of Glaciers and to set a specific date for the World Glacier Day.
