Symposium on the 25th anniversary of Independence of Tajikistan in Cambridge University

On November 24, 2016 the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Kingdom in collaboration with Cambridge Central Asia Forum and British-Tajik Society “Payvand” organized a symposium dedicated to 25th Anniversary of Tajikistan Independence.

The event took place at the Alison Richard Building, University of Cambridge and was attended by community of scholars, students, public organizations and academic institutions.

Prominent scholars and professors of Oxford and Cambridge Universities: Dr.Siddharth Saxena, Prof Peter Nolan, Dr.Nick Ray, Prof Edmund Herzig, Dr Cristine van Ruymbeke, Dr Yasmin Faghihi spoke on rich culture and history of Tajikistan and Persianate World.

Mr Asliddin Rakhmatov, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy, Dr.Jalal Badakhshani and Dr.Dagi Dagiev, Chairman and Vice-Chairman of British-Tajik Society “Payvand” talked on achievements of Tajikistan during the period of independence and prospects for future development.

Participants actively made their comments and questions.

The symposium was a part of the series of events organised in cooperation with the UK universities dedicated to Tajikistan Independence. First one was held in SOAS University of London in July 2016.
